Laura Schmidt is a trained librarian, publicly educated in Wisconsin from K to MA. Her research focuses on the histories of science and the book and how these topics relate art production. Most recently, she has written on the progression of insect illustration from the Middle Ages up through 19th century entomology. Public humanities and reaching out to communities outside the university has been a constant benchmark in her work. Her academic pursuits are deeply tied to collaboration, activism and social justice.
